Valley Unemployment Rates Decrease in April
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month decrease in April, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.
Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in April was 5.3%, down from 5.5% in March. Trumbull County’s rate decreased from 5.7% to 5.4%, and Columbiana County’s rate dropped from 5.3% to 4.9%.
Rates in all three counties were up from a year earlier. The April 2023 unemployment rate was 3.9% in Mahoning County, 4% in Trumbull County and 3.6% in Columbiana County.
The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 6.4% in March to 6.3% in April. The rate was up from 4.8% in April 2023.
The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 6.5% in March to 6.2% in April. The rate was up from 4.9% in April 2023.
