Views & Brews Talks Brain Gain Monday Evening

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The City Club of the Mahoning Valley and The Business Journal are previewing the next round of student panel discussions Monday evening at the Views & Brews event

The Views & Brews panel is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts on N. Phelps Street downtown. The event is free to attend.

High school students from Chaney High School and the Choffin Career & Technical Center will participate in a panel moderated by Jeremy Lydic, content manager for The Business Journal.

In the coming weeks, Lydic will conduct larger panel discussions with high school students in the region continuing the series that began with students from grades five to eight.

“Monday’s panel is a sample of the type of discussion we’ll be having with students at area high schools,” Lydic says. “We’ll be touching on topics that we will discuss with the larger panels, such as plans for after high school, their goals and aspirations, as well as the obstacles students face in achieving those goals.”

Brain Gain is a 15-month program launched in October 2019 to address the problem of brain drain — the loss of the area’s best and brightest as they leave for greener pastures elsewhere. Through print and online editorial content, The Business Journal presents news, strategies and resources to promote workforce development in the region and build a culture of entrepreneurship.
