Vindicator Items, Equipment Up For Auction
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Everything from extension cords to industrial paper cutters are up for grabs as the Vindicator Printing Co. auctions off more than 300 lots of industrial equipment, tools and other items once used at the longtime daily newspaper.
The online only auction opened Wednesday at 9 a.m., said Chris Roman, auctioneer for George Roman Auctioneers, Canfield. “It’s off to a good start,” he said.
Roman believes this auction will command a significant amount of attention because of the Vindicator’s historic place in the Mahoning Valley. “There’s a lot of nostalgic value to this area,” he said.
Among the items up for auction are forklifts, metal cabinets, office furniture, welding tables, Mac mini computers, kitchen appliances, industrial shop carts and scrap metal.
“They’re good quality items that anyone could use,” he said.
The online auction closes on Monday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.
The Vindicator shut its doors in August 2019, ending 150 years of publication. General Manager Mark Brown said at the time that the company was unable to secure a buyer for the business, and that there was no other choice but to close the daily newspaper.
