Wean Foundation Makes Grants to City Club, Nonprofit Leadership Center

WARREN, Ohio – The Raymond John Wean Foundation has awarded a combined $79,838 to two organizations focused on leadership development and fostering civic engagement: the City Club of the Mahoning Valley and the Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Youngstown State University.

The grant awards were made at the foundation’s quarterly board meeting, held Dec. 4.

The award to the Center for Nonprofit Leadership will support the Nonprofit Leadership Summer Honors Internship program, which hires 10 interns each year. This year, they will work with YSU’s multicultural student affairs department and other organizations dedicated to diversity.

At the City Club, the Wean Foundation grant will support forums and panel discussions throughout 2019. The calendar is designed “to inform, connect and motivate citizens to take action on issues relevant to our region and beyond.”

In addition to the grant awards, the Wean Foundation board approved its Strategic Direction: 2019-2023 plan after gathering input from nearly 200 area residents, grantees and stakeholders over the past 18 months.
