Weekly Jobless Claims Rise in Ohio
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New jobless claims filed by Ohioans during the week ended Sept. 3 increased compared to the previous week. However continued unemployment claims dropped during the period, according to data released today from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Ohioans filed 6,680 new traditional unemployment claims last week, an increase of 659 claims filed the previous week.
Continued jobless claims stood at 28,057 for the week ended Sept. 3, a decrease of 1,879 claims, ODJFS said.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in July was 3.9% compared to the national unemployment rate of 3.5%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in July was 61.9%, while the national labor force participation rate for the month stood at 62.1%.
