Westminster Unveils Heritage Center to Showcase Sports Programs

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster College unveiled the Darwin Huey Heritage Center in early September with a dedication thanking the donors who made it possible, celebrating all the successes of the Titans’ athletic programs and honoring Titan Sports Hall of Famer Darwin “Dar” Huey.

“To all of you, your generosity, your kindness, your friendship, and particularly your presence here today is- if there is something that comes after being overwhelmed, that’s what I am today,” Huey said.

Located inside the Memorial Field House, the Huey Heritage Center includes display cases for all 22 varsity Westminster College Titans teams, showing present and past achievements. The Titan Sports Hall of Fame also has an interactive touch screen showcasing every Titan Sports Hall of Famer, the Gene Nicholson Showcase of National Champions which celebrates Westminster’s national championship teams and individuals, the Jim Dafler PAC Champions Showcase, the Titan Tradition Hallway, the Buzz Ridl Showcase, and the Towering Titan Sports Heritage Mural which depicts all the greatness and success achieved by Westminster Athletics. More than 300 donors made the space possible.

“In light of a life and career defined by dedication, we today are delighted to dedicate the Darwin Huey Heritage Center and Memorial Field House – what a fitting tribute and example for generations to come,” said Westminster President Dr. Kathy Brittain Richardson.

New Westminster director of athletics Jason Lener said this space recognizes the Titan traditions.

“What an honor it is for our current and future student-athletes to walk through these halls every day as they prepare to leave their own mark on Titan history,” he said.
