Wings and Wheels to Honor Ernie Hall Museum’s Late Director
WARREN, Ohio – The seventh annual Wings and Wheels will take place at the Ernie Hall Aviation Museum 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4 to honor the museum’s late director, Bill Griffin.
The event will feature 1,000 classic and exotic cars on display along with nearly 100 airplanes, including current and former military aircraft.
“The event will go on despite the tragic loss of our leader and inspiration, Bill Griffin, who passed away earlier this year,” said Steve Lewis, Ernie Hall Aviation Museum event coordinator, in a statement. “Our theme this year is, quite simply, come out for Billy and experience the fun and excitement that he strived to bring to his community.”
A special presentation by the group will also take place to honor Griffin and the board of directors has voted him into the Ernie Hall Aviation Hall of Fame.
“That presentation will be made to Griffin’s family at the Wings and Wheels event and will serve as the focal point of the days’ activities,” Lewis said.
The museum recently made $2,500 in donations to the Animal Welfare League and the Northeastern Ohio Adoption Services. Both groups also support and volunteer at the event.
“Those groups have committed to volunteer again this year to help make this our best event held to date to honor the legacy of Griffin,” Lewis said. “We are all working as hard as possible to make Bill proud. I can think of no other effort we could take to better honor the man who made this event and the museum a reality.”
