Woodlands Rehab, Assisted Living Opens At Austinwoods

AUSTINTOWN – The new rehabilitation center and assisted living units at Austinwoods opened here in March. The rehab center features private rooms and hotel-like amenities for patient privacy as they recover from surgery, illness and injury. The new center offers private rooms for long-term residents and private suites for short-stay patients.

With these additions, Woodlands is hiring resident assistants, state tested nurse aides and licensed practical nurses, says owner Kathy Prasad.

“The upswing in older population, longevity and activity creates greater demand for assisted living. Beginning this year, Austinwoods is able to offer Medicaid waiver services for assisted living,” she says.

Woodlands was founded in 1996 when Prasad acquired Austinwoods Nursing Center and completed a $5 million renovation. The company subsequently built Hampton Woods Nursing Center in Poland, Woodlands Assisted Living and the Center for Rehabilitation at Hampton Woods and established Woodlands Home Care.

Austinwoods, Woodlands Assisted Living and Woodlands Center for Rehabilitation each received 100% deficiency-free state surveys while Medicare awarded five-star ratings to Austinwoods and Hampton Woods, Prasad notes.
