Young Professionals of the Valley to Hold First Event

SHARON, Pa. – An event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, raising awareness of board and volunteer opportunities for young professionals aged 21 and older.

The “Network After Work” event is Young Professionals of the Valley’s first ever event and will be held at Corinthian Banquet Center in Sharon. The group is an affiliated of the Sharon Community Development Corporation (SCDC) and promotes growth of next generation leaders in Shenango and the Mahoning Valley.

Event sponsors include JCL Development, the Sara McCauley Team and the Corinthian Banquet Center.

Tom Roberts, executive director of HopeCAT in Sharon and SCDC board vice president, says the event is an effort to strengthen the network of local leadership.

“Events like these will help showcase options for volunteerism and more,” he says.

Buhl Park, Shenango Valley Urban League, Sharon Beautification Commission, Waterfire and Shenango Valley River Watchers, will be featured organizations with open volunteer opportunities.

Associate SCDC board member and JCL Energy sales/marketing employee, Ty Cole, says their main goal is to promote volunteer opportunities in organizations volunteers are passionate about.

Courtney Cilli, group liaison and Sharon downtown events coordinator, says the group was created for young professionals to be able to give back to their community and establish connections.

“We saw the need in the community for younger individuals to have a place where they could get involved with different volunteer opportunities and get to know companies that need new board members,” she says.

Additional events will also be focused on similar topics of networking, volunteerism and board opportunities.

Free registration for young professionals can be accessed at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/network-after-work-tickets-363209989857.
