Youngstown City Schools Teacher Earns Special Education Award
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Paul C. Bunn Elementary School special education teacher Sandra Petruzzi has been honored with the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator Award for Outstanding Special Education Educator for State Support Team Region 5.
Paul C. Bunn is part of the Youngstown City School District. The award is presented to one educator from each of Ohio’s 16 state support team regions who has demonstrated dedication and made significant contributions to the education of students with disabilities.
“At Youngstown City Schools, our dedicated educators inspire our scholars and exemplify the district’s mission,” said YCSD Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor. “Mrs. Petruzzi is one example of our teachers who go above and beyond for scholars. We congratulate her on this well-deserved award and are immensely proud and thankful for Mrs. Petruzzi’s service.”
Petruzzi was surprised with the award at a May 14 assembly.
In the award application, colleagues and families called Petruzzi “a blessing” and “the best teacher in the world” who is “always willing to share her knowledge” with co-workers.
