Youngstown MBAC to Host Certification Workshop
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Minority Business Assistance Center at the Youngstown Business Incubator will host an all-day certification workshop May 18.
The “Let’s Get Certified!” workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the YBI, 241 W. Federal St. Minority, women, veteran-friendly and socially and economically disadvantaged business owners are encouraged to attend.
MBAC assists business owners who have owned and operated their businesses for over a year with applying for the following state of Ohio certifications: Minority Business Enterprise, Women Business Enterprise, Encouraging Diversity Growth and Equity Program and Veteran-Friendly Business Enterprise.
During the workshop, participants will be guided through each of the required steps of the application process, including submission of their application on the same day.
“Navigating the certification process tends to be a bit overwhelming for business owners who want to apply,” said Ayana Beulah, Youngstown MBAC’s certification specialist. “Therefore, the goal of this workshop is to not only simplify the process and make it interactive, but motivate participants to completion.”
The first participant to submit their application at the workshop will win a $500 grant award sponsored by 717 Credit Union. Christine Hughes, 717’s business development manager, will share how the credit union’s services could benefit those in attendance and will present the winner with the award.
“717 Credit Union is deeply committed to the success of our local business community. After all, we’re a local business, too,” Hughes said. “We’re so excited to support MBAC’s certification program. It’s the gateway to opportunities that will help local businesses thrive.”
