YSU Alumni Game Honors Yarabinec
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — This year’s Youngstown State Baseball Alumni Game and Golf Outing is dedicated to the memory of Kevin Yarabinec, a four-year letter winner and member of the YSU pitching staff from 2014–17, who was killed in a car accident in April.
During his career with the Penguins, Yarabinec was both a closer and a member of the weekend rotation. He was a member of the Horizon League All-Freshman Team, and in 2014 got the win in relief in the Horizon League Championship game. In his junior year, he led the pitching squad in wins and saves, and finished his career with the sixth most saves in YSU history.
The fourth annual baseball alumni game takes place Friday, Sept. 21 at Eastwood Field in Niles. YSU’s 2018-19 team will play its first intrasquad game at 2 p.m., followed by the alumni game at 6 p.m.
The golf outing is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Youngstown Country Club. The cost is $120 per golfer or $480 per foursome. Fees cover golf, lunch, catered dinner and drinks. Hole sponsorships are available at $100.
Both the baseball game and golf outing will be played in Yarabinec’s name.
Alumni can register for the weekend’s events by completing the form on YSUsports.com or emailing head coach Dan Bertolini at [email protected].
