YSU Beta Alpha Psi Chapter Earns Superior Status for 17th Straight Year

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – For the 17th straight year, the Beta Alpha Psi chapter at the Williamson College of Business Administration has earned the organization’s superior status.

The honor is given to chapters that exceed the organization’s base requirements and excel in academics, professionalism, service and leadership. 

Beta Alpha Psi is an international organization for students and professional in accounting, finance and information systems. 

In the 2019-2020 school year, the chapter at Youngstown State University took part in 20 events, including hosting professional speakers, company tours, working with Junior Achievement to teach financial literacy to elementary students and helping low-income households with tax preparation.

The YSU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi is advised by accounting professors Raymond Shaffer and Paulina Kassawat. Chapters can only be established at colleges accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Pictured: YSU Beta Alpha Psi students Austin Sambuco, Abbey Berick, Carly Chopp and Nicholas Parsons, placed first in the Branches Category at the 2019 Regional Best Practices Competition. After placing first in the Regional Competition, the students also presented at the BAP Annual Meeting in Chicago in August 2019. This was one of the many activities that contributed to the Superior Status Award.
