YSU Concrete Canoe Team Finishes 2nd in National Competition
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University’s concrete canoe team recently placed second overall at the national American Society of Civil Engineers’ annual Concrete Canoe Competition.
During the competition, which took place June 10-12 at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, a team of 12 YSU engineering majors competed against 20 teams from other universities. Teams were responsible for creating a canoe display and weighing, measuring, presenting and racing the canoe.
In addition to finishing second overall, the YSU team placed in the top five in seven of eight events, taking first in the women’s slalom and final product prototype, second in the men’s sprint and the oral technical presentation and third in the women’s sprint.
YSU also finished second at the 2021 competition.
