YSU Gets Grant for Nurse Anesthetist Program

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University was awarded a $19,146 grant for a nurse anesthetist traineeship program.

The grant was made available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio.

Nurse anesthesia is one of five options offered for candidates in YSU’s master of science in nursing program. It focuses on the administration of anesthesia to individuals requiring surgical and nonsurgical diagnostic procedures.

“I am proud to have had the opportunity to help YSU secure this important funding. Northeast Ohio is known far and wide for our world-class health-care industry, with almost 50,000 health related jobs in our congressional district alone,” he said.

“This funding will allow our young people get the training and experience they need to be ready to enter the workforce and continue our region’s legacy as a leader in the field of health care,” he added.
