YSU Golf and Other Athletics Announce Fall Schedules

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown State University women’s golf team travels to State College, Pa.; Lancaster, N.Y.; and Kiawah Island, S.C. as part of the team’s 2021-22 season schedule.

The Penguins host the seventh annual Roseann Schwartz Invitational Sept. 13-14 at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman. The event is named in honor of Roseann Schwartz, who was the YSU women’s golf coach from 1996 until 2013.

On Oct. 18-19, the team stays in Ohio to compete at the Dayton Flyer Invitational in Kettering.

The men’s golf team is also on the road with tournaments in Verona, N.Y.; Huntington, W. Va. and Grasonville, Md. The team stays in Ohio for the Tom Tontimonia Invitational hosted by Cleveland State at Lakewood Country Club Oct. 4-5 in Westlake and goes with the women to the Dayton Flyer Invitational.

The YSU volleyball team begins its season Aug. 27-28, hosting Akron, Duquesne and St. Francis (Pa.) in three separate matches.

Women’s soccer has a home scrimmage Tuesday against Pittsburgh, followed by another preseason warmup Aug. 15 at Buffalo. The season opens Aug. 19 at Bucknell, followed by two more road contests at Kent State (Aug. 26) and Wake Forest (Aug. 29) before its home opener (Sept. 2) against Marshall.

Men’s tennis competes in six events this fall before forging ahead to its spring season, heading to Chicago; Wilmington, N.C.; Tulsa, Okla.; Normal, Ill. and East Lansing, Mich. Select members of the program will play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men’s All-American Championships in early October, while some of the top players from the ITA’s midwest region will play the Michigan State University event Oct. 21-26 in East Lansing.

The men’s basketball team announced its non-league schedule in which it will face some Big Ten, Big 12 and Mid-American Conference teams and host six home games – including a three-game, multi-team event tournament Nov. 19-21 against St. Thomas (Minn.), Niagara and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Westminster (Nov. 24), Central Michigan (Dec. 8) and Canisius (Dec. 11) come to the Beeghly Center for the home portion.

The YSU men travel to West Virginia on Dec. 22, Penn State on Nov. 10 and Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 13.

The Horizon League portion of the schedule will be released by the league at a later date along with the women’s basketball non-conference portion of its slate.

Cross country and women’s tennis schedules have yet to be finalized.
