YSU Javelin Thrower Finishes 9th in British Olympic Qualifiers
MANCHESTER, England – Olivia Jones, a javelin thrower for Youngstown State University, posted a ninth-place finish in Great Britain’s Olympic qualifying event.
At the 2021 Muller British Athletics Championships in Sunday, Jones posted a best throw of 39.29 meters, just shy of her personal best and good for ninth place in the competition.
The British team attending the Tokyo Olympics was announced Tuesday, but Jones did not make the squad.
With her participation in the event, Jones is the second Penguin to compete in an Olympic qualifier this year, joining hurdler Collin Harden, who competed in the men’s 400-meter hurdles at the United States team trials in April.
