YSU, YBI, America Makes to Showcase Advanced Tech

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Make Youngstown, an event that showcases local businesses that employ advanced technology, will be held April 20 and 21 at Youngstown State University.

The university, Youngstown Business Incubator and America Makes, the brand of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, are the sponsors of the exhibit to be held in Williamson Hall.

“The event will showcase local businesses developing or using advanced technologies that align with the growing maker movement throughout the region,” the university says.

A panel discussion with local entrepreneurs and “makers” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. will be held both days. Make Youngstown will allow all audiences to learn more about the efforts and business opportunities in Youngstown, YSU says.

The rapid development of advanced tools such as 3-D printers, laser cutters, CNC machining and interactive software is encouraging entrepreneurs, tinkerers and businesses to take simple ideas or drawings and transforming them into viable products with unprecedented speed.

Among advanced technologies on display will be 3-D printing, 3-D scanning, interactive software, virtual reality and hydroponics.
