YSU’s Keller Ties for Fourth at Ohio Amateur Championship
HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Youngstown State University golfer and Cardinal Mooney High School graduate Ken Keller shot a 1-under 287 to place fourth at the Ohio Golf Association’s 115th annual Ohio Amateur Championship Friday at Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
Keller tied with Springfield’s Luke Wells, Akron’s Cade Breitenstine and Springboro’s Jordan Gilkison.
Ashland’s Max Watson beat Dayton’s Dhaivat Pandya in a playoff as both finished with a 3-under 285 after 72 holes. Watson double bogeyed on 18 to force the extra golf.
Cincinnati’s Bill Williamson took third with a 2-under 286. Complete results are HERE.
Keller was one of a couple area golfers who were part of the field. Fellow YSU golfer Bryan Kordupel, a Boardman High School graduate, tied with Cleveland’s Colin Burns for 29th with a 10-over 298.
Brookfield High School graduate and University of Findlay golfer Justin Atkinson finished tied for 36th with Xenia’s Mason Witt and Westerville’s Jonathan Green with a 13-over 301.
YSU golfer Dean Austalosh [Campbell Memorial] and Kent State University’s Jared Wilson [Columbiana] both did not make the cut after the third round. Both finished with an 11-over 227.
