YWCA Receives $10K from Huntington Foundation
YOUNGSTOWN — YWCA Mahoning Valley received a $10,000 gift from the Huntington Foundation to support the Barbara M. Wick Transitional House.
Barãta Bey, vice president and community development relationship manager for Huntington Bank covering Western Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley Regions, presented Leah Merritt, YWCA Mahoning Valley president and CEO, with the check to support housing programs for homeless women.
YWCA Mahoning Valley has operated the Barbara M. Wick Transitional House since 1991. The eight-month program meets the needs of low- or no- income homeless women, with or without children, providing communal single-room occupancy and apartment-style housing with supportive services.
YWCA Mahoning Valley’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen the community. YWCA Mahoning Valley is part of an international movement serving over two million in the United States and 25 million worldwide.
