AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – With Michelle White as president, her son Justin as CEO and her daughter Jordyn as office assistant, Advanced Technology Partners is a true family unit.
Michelle and Justin, who are co-owners, started the Austintown-based IT support services company in 2018.
Before that, they had been working together in the field for six years at another company. Michelle was the IT director and Justin was an intern who was hired on.
“We used to ride to and from work together and she would explain IT concepts such as databases to me, and I never thought I would understand,” Justin recalls. “Within weeks after those conversations, I began developing custom web applications for business use.”
They started Advanced Technology Partners to provide high-quality IT services in the area.
The company began with just one client. Several more were soon added but growth was slow until ATP acquired another company. At that point, expansion accelerated.
“We focused on providing our customers with an excellent support experience so that any of our customers would feel extremely confident recommending us to any of their colleagues,” Justin says.
As the company grew, Jordyn joined the staff, assisting with tasks on the accounting side and in office management.
The company now has a staff of 10 and more than 100 clients.
Justin, Michelle and Jordyn have learned to keep family matters separate from business matters.
“We have made a concerted effort to focus on family when we are around family and focus on business when we are in the office,” Justin says.
The closeness of the three has a side benefit that affects the workplace.
“One of the biggest benefits is knowing each other’s personalities and being able to talk comfortably and openly about every facet of the business,” Justin says.
