Submission Deadline Nears for Innovation Day 2024

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Innovation Day 2024 will be the second demonstration of leading-edge innovations in northeastern Ohio’s innovation ecosystems, organized jointly by public universities and sponsored by industry partners.

The Oct. 11 event will take place at Youngstown State University. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. in Williamson Hall, and the event will conclude at 5 p.m. in Kilcawley Center.

The “reverse pitch” approach is designed to allow companies to build awareness of their business and potentially forge productive connections with a diverse audience composed of faculty, staff and students from each of the northeastern Ohio public universities and representatives from various industries. 

Wednesday is the submission deadline for companies. The event is a collaboration between the institutional members of the Northeast Ohio Public University Research Alliance: University of Akron, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Northeast Ohio Medical University and YSU.

Proposals for the program should include a brief but clear statement of a challenge or “pain point” connected to a business that requires further collaboration and investigation to tackle and solve. 

Selected problem statements will be presented on Innovation Day 2024 by a representative from selected companies in a seven-minute format. Following the presentations, a question-and-answer breakout session will be held in which each of the presenting companies can meet directly with individuals and teams interested in learning more and/or helping to address the challenge.

The event serves as a venue for innovators, university faculties and students to discuss and showcase the region’s key innovations, technology transfer strategies and thought leadership.

The event is open to all YSU students, faculty, employees and the public, though registration is required. Students interested in submitting a poster should register first and follow the prompts for abstract submission. A registration form and the event schedule are available HERE.
