NEW WATERFORD, Ohio – When Dave Norris realized his career had advanced as far as it would ever get, he set out on his own.
He took his 13 years of HVAC experience and started his own company, NDC Heating & Cooling.
That was in 2006. The New Waterford business, at 3819 W. Main St. is still going strong today.
At first, Norris handled all the work. But today, the HVAC installation and service company employs 13.
Norris credits hard work, a supportive family and dedication for its success.
Norris remains the owner, with his wife, Chrissy, serving as chief finance officer.
Their three children are also part of the management team, with Nathan handling sales, Dakota working as service manager, and Carlie handling office manager duties.
The company was named for the three kids; NDC stands for Nathan, Dakota and Carlie.
While NDC remains a small, family-owned company, Carlie says it has found employees who are skilled and reliable.
“We rely on the integrity of every employee in the field and in the office to demonstrate our values,” she says.
At the core are the Norris family values. And the family is ever-mindful of the importance of keeping work and family separate.
“The key is patience, understanding and a little bit of humor,” Carlie says.
“Everyone has to be able to listen to one another, hear complaints and issues without taking anything personally, and work together to solve problems and help the family grow.”
