CityScape Discount Cards Support Downtown Businesses

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown CityScape’s downtown discount card recently arrived at CityScape’s downtown offices so people can order and get them for the holidays.

CityScape already has a list of preorders for the cards, the organization’s executive director, Sharon Letson, said Monday.

The Business Journal is among the five sponsors for this year’s card, which is being offered through CityScape’s Downtown Youngstown Partnership program. The other sponsors are Avalon Downtown, Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, the 5th Avenue McDonald’s and the DoubleTree by Hilton Youngstown Downtown.

A total of 13 downtown area organizations are offering discounts and promotions on the cards, down nearly 20 in years past, Letson said. The lower number is in part because of downtown business closings in recent years, including some resulting from the 20 Federal Place renovation project.

“There are less places to patronize,” she said. “What that means is now more than ever, we need to support one another to keep our keep our businesses open.”

At the same time, the card includes “some really good” offers, including 10% off the best available rate at the DoubleTree, as well as the ability to use the offers on the card more than once.

Other offers on the card range from discounted or buy one, get one admission offers for downtown venues to discounts at area restaurants. Participating restaurants include Avalon Downtown, The Mocha House and The Federal. Organizations offering admission deals include the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, Youngstown Historical Center of Industry & Labor and Oh Wow.

Proceeds from sales of the cards benefit CityScape’s downtown beautification efforts and Youngstown State University’s Center for Nonprofit Leadership, which is partnering again with Youngstown CityScape to offer the cards.

Offers are good though November 2023. The cards are $10 each and can be purchased HERE, by calling the CityScape offices at 330 742 4040 or from a student in YSU’s nonprofit leadership program when classes resume in January.
