Northside, Mercy Health Hold Job Fairs
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Employees at Northside Regional Medical Center will have an opportunity to meet with more than two dozen regional employers during job fairs on Aug. 23 and Sept. 6. The employee-only job fairs are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Northside’s Medical Office Building A.
Following the announcement on Aug. 15 that Steward Health Care would be closing Northside Regional, the company said it planned to host onsite job fairs to provide access to outplacement services. Last Friday, a notice provided to the state’s Office of Workforce Development reported a total 468 employees would be idled when the hospital closes, up from the 388 first reported.
“Steward is doing everything we can to help our talented employees transition to new positions within Steward Health Care or with other health care providers across the region,” said Steward’s central region president, Daniel Knell, in a release. “We are working closely with employers across the Shenango and Mahoning Valleys to share information about open positions and provide resources for those seeking new roles.”
Hiring representatives from more than two dozen regional employers will be on hand, including Trumbull Regional Medical Center, Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, Sharon Regional Medical Center, Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, St. Joseph Health Center, and The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods.
According to the release, more than 200 job openings exist between Trumbull Regional, Sharon Regional and Hillside Rehabilitation, as well as Steward’s other medical practices in the area. “There are also hundreds of open healthcare and hospitality jobs in the region,” the release states.
Job fairs are open only to Northside Regional employees, who are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes. Resume-writing workshops will be held on Aug. 22 and Sept. 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on both days in the hospital boardroom. RSVP for resume support is required.
As Northside Regional hosts its job fairs, so to is Mercy Health. Informational job sessions are scheduled for Aug. 22 and Aug. 24 at the Jewish Community Center at 500 Gypsy Lane in Youngstown. Each event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is open to current Northside Regional employees.
Mercy’s human resources representatives will review existing job openings and screen qualified candidates. Service line leaders and hiring managers from other departments will be on-hand to discuss Mercy’s offerings.
