BOARDMAN — Boardman Township Park had several reasons to celebrate in 2022.
The “Green Oasis,” which provides 60 acres of recreational space and 234 acres of natural habitat, marked its 75th anniversary with an event in August.
The park also celebrated Dan Slagle’s 50 years of service. Slagle began on the park ground crew in 1972 and was promoted to executive director in 1992. He retired in October. The park’s board – Joyce Mistovich, Trent Cailor and Ken Goldsboro – and staff honored Slagle by naming the main drive of Boardman Park the Dan Slagle Parkway.
As 2022 came to a close, a new leadership team was named: Gabe Manginelli, park superintendent; Angela Davis, clerk/office manager; and Karen McCallum, recreation and engagement director.
One of the first major projects for the new team is the completion of the proposed Maag Theater Performing Arts Center restroom. Three new light poles will also be installed.
