SALEM — United Way Services of Northern Columbiana County concluded the first year of its Unlocking Potential mentoring program in May 2022.
Through the program, mentors from a variety of businesses meet with students and encourage resilience, responsibility and safety through a variety of life skills. The program received “rave reviews from school administrators and participating fifth-graders,” says George W. S. Hays, executive director.
The annual fundraising campaign raised 114% of its goal. The 2023 campaign goal is $228,000, with a theme of “Live Well, Earn Well, and Stay Well.”
The organization’s service area comprises East Palestine, Columbiana, Leetonia, Lisbon, Salem, Washingtonville and surrounding areas.
