New and sold listings of single-family properties in the region surged in March as the spring buying season began.
Data from MLS Now show the 18-county region, which includes Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties, reported 3,655 listings sold in March, up 34.3% from February. New listings increased 46.6% with 4,995 available properties. Regionally, the average sale price in March was $198,639, up 5.1% from February.
Mahoning County led the three-county area with 212 houses sold in March, up from 152 in February, but down from March 2020 when 214 listings were sold. The county reported 266 new listings for the month, 65 more than was reported in February.
Houses were sold in Mahoning County for an average price of $148,093, which is down from an average sale price of $152,195 in February, but still up 17% from $126,590 in March 2020.
Trumbull County reported 175 listings sold in March, up from 137 in February and up 34.6% from the 130 sold in March 2020. Trumbull also saw 214 new listings on the market last month, up from 165 in February, and up from 190 the same time last year
The average sale price for houses sold in Trumbull County in March was $138,220, up a bit from $132,113 in February, and up 16.4% from March 2020, when the average sale price was $118,790.
Columbiana County reported 70 houses sold in March, one more than was sold in February, and three more than March 2020. New listings increased to 111 in March from 76 the month prior, and were up from 91 in March 2020.
Last month, houses sold for an average price of $129,968 in Columbiana County, which is down from $148,144 in February, but still up nearly 10% from March 2020, when the average sale price was $118,225.
