MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County Tourism rebounded in 2022. The agency experienced a 33% drop in revenue during the pandemic, falling to $619,850. But 2022 hotel excise receipts outpaced 2019 by 4%, rising to over $975,000.
While many destination marketing organizations suspended their efforts during the pandemic, Mercer County did not. “We felt it was important to keep Mercer County top-of-mind for future travel decisions,” says Peggy Mazyck, president and CEO.
Mercer Tourism supports its members in several ways. This includes cooperative advertising that provides a marketing match up to $18,000, and a tourism attraction development grant that provides up to $20,000.
Last year the agency presented the inaugural Lake to Lake Paddle Challenge on the Shenango River Water Trail. Other events supported in 2022 include the Tri-State PGA and the SkyDive Festival.
