MS Consultants Follows Firm’s Founding Mission

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – MS Consultants was founded in 1963 by Thomas F. Mosure and Thomas Fok to support local communities and promote jobs in the region. Today, the company continues to fulfill that mission.

MS has 400 employees and offices in five states. But the Mahoning Valley has served as the foundation of its success and ability to expand  engineering, architecture and planning services, says Krystal Paisley, marketing and communications director.

“Through the support of the region, MS Consultants continues to work with local communities and national clients to improve transportation, bridges, water, wastewater and stormwater, construction, planning of trails and parks, energy with new EV solutions and comprehensive planning to strategize for the future,” Paisley says.

One of its recent endeavors was the Fifth Avenue rehabilitation project. A collaboration with the city of Youngstown, Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, Youngstown State University, Mercy Health and the Western Reserve Transit Authority, the project was completed in 2021 and is the first pillar of the Smart2 project.

“With Fifth Avenue being the primary gateway to the downtown Youngstown business district and Youngstown State University, this roadway project was an important enhancement to the area,” Paisley says.

Another local project in collaboration with Eastgate is the Mahoning River Corridor Revitalization Plan, which seeks to bring collective opportunities and shared prosperity to the 13 communities along the river.

MS also led the 300-acre site development of the new HomeGoods distribution center in Lordstown. This project included site grading and drainage efforts, upgrading of utility systems and wetland mitigation.

Currently, MS is working with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber on a multisite feasibility study  and is engaged with the Columbiana County Port Authority to provide architecture and engineering services for an industrial building in Leetonia.
