GIRARD – Thompson Insurance Group LLC ramped up its community involvement in 2022, continued to invest in technology and experienced growth within all of its subsidiaries.

The Gibson Agency, Thompson’s largest subsidiary, grew by 19.7% in its commercial lines division and by 4.2% in its personal lines division. PetBizInsurance.com, which offers specialized coverage options for pet businesses across the United States, grew by 10.4%.

Thompson Insurance Group, based in Girard, is a family-owned and operated agency established in 1947. The agency welcomed two new employees in 2022. Rachel March joined the team as an accounting/HR associate. Linda Donahue was hired to bolster Gibson’s commercial lines department.

April L. Snyder, senior personal risk manager, was awarded the Superior Travelers Agency Recognition Award by Travelers Insurance for her strong overall performance in 2022. In May, The Gibson Agency was nominated for the Tribune Chronicle’s readers’ choice award, winning the gold award and named the best insurance agency in Trumbull County.

The agency ramped up its community involvement in 2022 by sponsoring and donating to local schools and nonprofits. In May, the agency took part in the American Heart Association’s Tri-County Heart Walk, where Team Gibson raised more than $2,000.

The agency also hosted a series of events throughout the year.

On July 29, The Gibson Agency celebrated its 75th anniversary by hosting a community appreciation day. The event, which was open to the public, featured prize giveaways and food from local vendors as a “thank you” to the community for its continued support over the years.

Before the event, Gibson held a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. Attendees and staff collected 564 pounds of food and $453, which provided approximately 2,735 meals to individuals in the area.

For National Philanthropy Day, Gibson held a donation drive to benefit The Menagerie by the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.

On Oct. 21, Thompson joined other community businesses in the American Red Cross’ Sound the Alarm Campaign, where a group of employees spent the day installing smoke detectors in homes across the Mahoning Valley. The agency also participated in Project MKC’s Adopt a Family program.

The Thompson Insurance Group also hosted its first photos with Santa event, where attendees enjoyed cookies and a hot chocolate bar and received a complimentary photo with Santa Claus, provided by the agency.

Thompson Insurance Group continued to invest in technology and remained dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to service insurance solutions in the Mahoning Valley. Investments in several “insurtech” solutions helped enhance the agency’s relationships, services and experience with clients and partners.

Looking forward to 2023, Thompson aims to explore even more insur-tech options that will allow for continued growth in all of its divisions, as well as an opportunity to adapt and stay ahead of new market trends within the insurance industry. And new and exciting projects are in the works for the company’s 2023 philanthropic efforts.
