MERCER, Pa. – Following the success of last year’s inaugural Herbal Festival at Plant’s Herb Farm Bed and Breakfast, the event will return in an expanded format this summer.
The festival will take place in June in the woods along the paths that lead to the lavender and herb fields. Tours of both fields are offered during the festival, along with workshops and classes.
The Bed and Breakfast, 104 S. Foster Road, Mercer, Pa., hosts teas, lunches, dinners, showers, birthday parties and cousin camp. “We are always researching innovative ideas, techniques, and funding ideas,” says Deborah Plant, proprietor.
She calls her family farm “the perfect place for a restful and tranquil evening, weekend or getaway.” Guests are treated to a gourmet breakfast with fresh vegetables and fruits.
The 80-acre farm is always being developed to create the best use of the property and its resources. Its current agritourism activities include tours, you-pick lavender and herbs, and farm-to- table dining.
Plant, a third-generation family member to live on the farm, says it has “a sense of calmness, peace and tranquility.”
It features a rustic log cabin with all modern conveniences. Plant says she started the bed and breakfast because “we knew we needed to share the cabin.”
