HERMITAGE, Pa. – NuChoice Home Care of Hermitage, Pa., picked up new clients during the pandemic and now serves more than 130 homes.
The company, which provides in-home care to the elderly, formerly owned nursing care facilities in Sharon, Hermitage and Mercer, Pa., but sold them in 2020. It has 60 employees.
NuChoice plans to expand into Lawrence and Butler counties when the pandemic ends, says CEO Shane Nugent. It will set up satellite offices to support its services in each county.
“According to national statistics, the demand for home care needs will increase by 7% annually from now through 2026,” Nugent says. “Our region’s increase could be higher because of a higher senior population.”
The company also plans to offer skilled care, such as physical therapy and wound care, in clients’ homes.
“We are also looking into offering home care to those under the age of 60 as well,” Nugent says.
