CANFIELD, Ohio – SSB CPAs embraced the needs of its clients in 2021 and focused on being their trusted advisers during a challenging time.
The Canfield-based firm also added three accountants, four interns and two administrative team members during the year, according to Thomas A. O’Neil, managing principal.
“We are growing our management team in a different way – through leadership development,” O’Neill says. “We believe that great leaders are students of leadership and leading takes practice.”
The firm also focused on strengthening client relationships in 2021.
“Our clients leaned on us more through the pandemic, and we were able to pull through stronger as a result of everyone’s efforts,” O’Neill says. “We helped them adapt, and we provided the support to guide them through the economic stimulus programs. We were candid with our advice, which our clients appreciated.”
To help its clients succeed, SSB recently hosted a workshop for clients that spotlighted ideas for growing their business.
One fast-growing service area for SSB continues to be its brewery division, according to O’Neill.
“It is a fast-developing niche that has us extending our reach to many new breweries, even in out-of-state locales, and we enjoy working with owners in this industry,” he says.
SSB’s Comprehensive Accounting and Advisory Services division has also experienced significant growth as more business owners are outsourcing their bookkeeping needs.
Finding employees has been a challenge for many businesses this year, and this division has assisted clients with bookkeeping duties as a way to fill these roles, O’Neill says.
The firm has also expanded its wealth management services. “We consider ourselves an extension of our clients’ businesses,” O’Neill says.
And SSB launched a new user-friendly website in 2021 that gives clients access to their portals for easier and secure communication.
