YOUNGSTOWN – Many of BBM Railway Equipment’s freight and transit projects – particularly its field service – came to a halt when the pandemic struck.
“A good portion of our revenue stream comes from the field service unit that requires on-site service work for all of our machines,” says James Beck, BBM vice president.
BBM’s sales team faced similar challenges and also adapted.
“We were able to complete large-scale projects and book new capital equipment, spare parts and field service orders for 2021,” Beck says.
The company is now working through a backlog and plans to hire a mechanical design engineer and two field service technicians.
BBM Railway Equipment is a joint venture agreement between Brilex Industries of Youngstown and Officine Meccaniche BBM of Italy. It provides railway equipment and services to maintenance facilities around the globe.
