Laurel Tech Prepares ‘Essential’ Graduates

HERMITAGE, Pa.  Career and technical education graduates have a new title during the COVID-19 pandemic – “essential,” says Laurel Technical Institute’s Kylee Orr.

The school provides career-focused education and professional certifications for individuals seeking employment in various occupations. LTI, with a campus here and in Meadville was founded in 1926 as the Shenango Valley School of Commerce.

“Our students perform important work, train with hands-on skills, use the latest technology in critical fields like health care, skilled trades, information technology, cosmetology, entrepreneurship and culinary arts,” says Orr, LTI digital marketing specialist.

“As our nation prepares to rebuild the economy, LTI has remained open, readying graduates to meet the surging demand in our hospitals, building trades and small businesses,” she continues.

“In 2021, our flexible learning options have expanded to offer new online programs, blended learning for on-ground classes and virtual live streams for those who need it.”
