WRPA Completes Projects At Airport, Across Valley

YOUNGSTOWN –The Western Reserve Port Authority completed over $2.4 million in improvements to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in 2020, according to its CEO, John Moliterno.

It also worked with its economic development partners to bring in $2.3 billion in new investment in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

The WRPA owns and operates the regional airport and constantly improves its infrastructure and amenities. Projects completed last year include taxiway reconstruction and lighting upgrades that will lower energy costs.

The WRPA’s economic development division assisted in many catalytic projects in 2020. They include Valley View Investors LLC’s South Park Square, a multitenant commercial development on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.

The WRPA also assisted with financing for Briarfield Place, a skilled nursing home.

It provided financing for development of the Ultium Cells factory in Lordstown and assisted in planning the region’s second SMART transportation corridor to spur new business in Lordstown.

The WRPA helped secure incentives for the Southern Park Mall’s DeBartolo Commons project, which will add entertainment, green space and recreational options.
