Hitch-Hiker Pivots to Hand Washing Units, Forms New Company

NEW MIDDLETOWN – Hitch-Hiker Manufacturing Inc. has been making festival concession trailers for more than 50 years. But when faced with the sudden shutdown of its client base, it quickly developed and produced a new type of trailer to fight the spread of COVID-19.

Hitch-Hiker created Quad-Sink, a four-person, touchless, mobile hand washing station.  And it formed a new company, Personal Protected LLC, to manufacture and sell the Quad-Sink.

“The first sale of the Quad-Sinks was to Youngstown State University,” says Jeff Swartz, president and owner.

Other colleges, schools, government entities and businesses learned of the Quad-Sink and ordered units, he says.
