Buhl Foundation Provides Relief

HERMITAGE, Pa. – The Buhl Health Foundation awarded more than $115,000 in relief support over the course of 2020.

In March, the foundation reached out to all grant recipients and offered the chance to receive funding for emerging needs. At the same time, says Executive Director Jennifer Barborak, the foundation suspended its fall round of grants, shifting the funding to directly support organizations during the pandemic.

Support also extended into education about the virus, as the foundation started a digital lunch-and-learn series in partnership with Primary Health Network and the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce. And it  kept its website updated with information such as COVID-19 testing sites and a list of agencies that can help those in quarantine.

This year, the foundation will continue its digital meetings as stakeholders “overwhelmingly told us they like the Zoom world,” Barborak says.

“We found that we are reaching more people by conducting meetings and educational events via Zoom.”
