SHARON, Pa. – Mercer County Community Federal Credit Union is expanding its charter, allowing the institution to offer membership to residents of surrounding counties, including those in Ohio.
The expansion, CEO Sandi Carangi says, follows “unprecedented growth” of the credit union’s digital offerings, such as online and mobile loan processing and account changes. “We are embarking on a technology upgrade that will provide members with enhanced services in areas such as new accounts, lending, online banking and mobile banking.”
In May, Mercer County FCU partnered with Newtek Business Services to expand its small-business offerings, including Paycheck Protection Program loans, merchant processing, payroll services and business loans.
“Navigating through 2020 and the constraints brought about by the pandemic, we provided continuous service to the credit union’s 10,000-plus members,” the CEO adds.
For customers who preferred in-person service, branches in Sharon and Hermitage remained open for drive-thru service and offered appointments in lobbies for those with more complex needs. Partitions and hand-sanitizing stations were installed and PPE was made available to staff and members.
