First Commonwealth Reports Banner Year

Commonwealth Bank had a banner year in 2020, despite the challenges brought by the pandemic.

The Indiana, Pa.-based bank was one of the few ready to accept Paycheck Protection Program loan applications on Day One of the submission period.

More than 4,900 loans worth nearly $600 million were processed by employees working around the clock.

Supporting businesses is at the core of who we are.  First Commonwealth is a U.S. Small Business Administration top 10 lender in all four of our metropolitan regions: Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cincinnati.

In October, we unveiled a new digital banking platform for personal and banking customers. The new customer experience includes Zelle digital payments and also provides modern, personal services and enhanced security for online and mobile banking.

Another digital offering is our new online appointment scheduling tool, which allows personal and business banking customers to make an appointment at their community office.

We also helped 3,100 households secure mortgages in excess of $781 million in 2020, helping families purchase their first home, or refinance with a lower interest rate.

Our indirect lending team completed its first calendar year by assisting individuals in $391 million of automobile, motorcycle and RV purchases.

Last year, First Commonwealth Bank was recognized for the second consecutive year by Forbes as one of the “World’s Best Banks.”

Other recognitions on a national level included acknowledgments by both the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and Consumer Federation of America for our finance programs.

Closer to home, First Commonwealth was named one of the top workplaces in the Pittsburgh region.

What we are most excited for in 2021 is the unveiling of our new mortgage office in Boardman this spring.

First Commonwealth has 119 community banking offices in western and central Pennsylvania and throughout Ohio, as well as business banking centers in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Canton, Columbus and Cincinnati.

It also operates mortgage offices in Hudson and Lewis Center, Ohio, as well as Wexford, Pa.  First Commonwealth provides a full range of commercial banking, consumer banking, mortgage, wealth management and insurance products and services through its subsidiaries First Commonwealth Bank and First Commonwealth Insurance Agency.

The company has more than 1,500 employees.
