YOUNGSTOWN – For the second consecutive year, Burgan Real Estate topped $100 million in home sales.
To do this as sales slowed in March and April, when sellers took houses off the market and some would-be buyers lost jobs, is a testament to the agency’s culture and its 47 agents, say Patrick Burgan and Sue Filipovich, second-generation co-owners of the 44-year-old agency.
“The success we have found in delivering on our promise to make life better for our clients and our community was never more apparent than in our ability to adapt to the challenges of 2020,” Burgan says. “I have never been prouder to be a part of our Burgan Bunch and this profession.”
At age 32, Burgan is the youngest president of the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors. The agency had the most YCAR agents honored as president’s club winners with more than a third exceeding $2 million in sales. Agent Jill Herock recorded YCAR’s largest sale in 2020 at just over $1.6 million, according to Burgan.
And as a member of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, the agency helped clients in nine states successfully buy and sell houses.
Burgan Real Estate added 10 agents for the largest roster in its history and formed the Burgan Friedkin Commercial Group with Alan Friedkin.
Market Title Agency, the company’s in-house title company, surpassed all projections for 2020, Burgan says.
The year did not come without a loss, as the company mourned the loss of co-founder Leon Turek, who died in September. Filipovich, his daughter, says his legacy continues.
“My father, along with John Burgan, built this company on integrity, transparency and a commitment to doing things the right way,” Filipovich says. “This culture is something that helped me become the individual I am today. But it also resonates with our company as we continue to be better with each passing year.”
