YOUNGSTOWN – Eastgate Regional Council of Governments worked with local communities last year to obtain over $33 million for projects, says its executive director, Jim Kinnick. These projects include the Mahoning Avenue Bikeway, the removal of the Mahoning River dam in Struthers, and the SMART2 project in Youngstown.
Eastgate was also awarded more than $2.7 million in grants from the Economic Development Administration, the Appalachian Regional Commission and the EDA Cares Act. The council’s regional vision has led to eight major projects in development, totaling over $98 million.
