YOUNGSTOWN – The Warren and Youngstown chapters of Inspiring Minds, an after-school program for high-schoolers, partnered with chapters in Philadelphia and New York in 2020 to offer virtual programming amid the pandemic.
The year culminated with the first national Inspiring Minds Youth Conference, which brought hundreds of students from around the country together to engage in conversations about college planning, networking, mental health, entrepreneurship, artivism, the power of Sankofa and more.
In 2020, Inspiring Minds was also able to continue its expansion plan by establishing chapters in Pittsburgh and Raleigh-Durham.
“While 2020 looked very different than our previous 14 years,” said Deryck Toles, founder and CEO, “I’m proud to say we were still here, we were still IM, and we were still able to make an impact on our young people and our community.”
