HERMITAGE, Pa. – M&R Power Equipment Group set 2020 goals to have more equipment pre-built before the start of the busy season, improve uptime solutions for commercial customers, and shorten turnaround times in the service departments. “Fortunately, before the pandemic hit, we were on track to hit our goals early in the season,” says its president, Jim Boyer.
For the first few months of the pandemic (during peak business season) the store closed to the public and experienced staffing shortages. Additional challenges included inventory shortages, extended shipping times and cost increases, Boyer says.
Still, M&R was able to outperform its 2019 sales month-after-month.
The store also found success in improving its website, offering curbside pickup for parts orders, and increasing its inventory presence online.
