GIRARD – A line of T-shirts celebrating the centennial of Good Humor Ice Cream helped New Dawn Design through a turbulent year, owner Linda Barton says.
Before the pandemic, Barton reached out to Good Humor’s parent company, Unilever, with the idea to produce vintage-style shirts for the ice cream company that got its start in Youngstown. New Dawn was given exclusive licensing rights for the brand and launched Sweet Memories Vintage Tees.
All designs are created by Barton and graphic designer Abbey Scoville.
Sales of the shirts benefit the community, with 20% of proceeds donated to the neonatal intensive care unit at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. In 2020, $3,185.72 was donated. In addition, Good Humor donated two pallets of its signature ice cream bars to patients and staff.
“Akron Children’s Hospital saved my daughter’s life and that hospital is filled with the most compassionate people. I can’t say enough great things about them,” Barton says.
